More than 800 Toys Donated to Underserved Children for the Holidays

“Making a difference in the lives of our clients, team members and community is part of our culture at Quicken Loans, said Jeff Perry, Vice President, Cleveland Web Center. “We are honored to help so many local children this holiday season.”

A week before Santa and his reindeer are set to take to the sky, Christmas came early for more than 800 underserved children in the area. As part of NBA Cares Home for the Holidays, the 2011 Cleveland Cavaliers and Lake Erie Monsters Toy Drive presented by Quicken Loans collected more than 800 toys between November 21st and December 17th.

“It means so much to be able to give back to the families in our community who support us year round,” said Cavaliers President Len Komoroski. “We’d like to thank our partner Quicken Loans and the people of Northeast Ohio for their generosity that helped make our annual Toy Drive a success.”

“Making a difference in the lives of our clients, team members and community is part of our culture at Quicken Loans, said Jeff Perry, Vice President, Cleveland Web Center. “We are honored to help so many local children this holiday season.”

On Sunday, December 18th, after the Cavs annual Wine and Gold Scrimmage, the Cavs, Monsters and Quicken Loans held a holiday party at The Q to present toys to 100 children from the West Side Ecumenical Ministries (WSEM) and the Center for Families and Children.

The afternoon was filled with Christmas cheer as the Cavalier Girls and Scream Team served up hot cocoa and holiday cookies to the youngsters. The dance troupes also read Christmas stories and performed some of their signature routines as entertainment.

Cavaliers players Anderson Varejao, Samardo Samuels, Christian Eyenga, Manny Harris and Semih Erden joined the fun following the scrimmage and played Santa with toys for the children.

As part of the Cavaliers’ and Monsters’ 2011 Toy Drive, toys were collected at the entrances of Quicken Loans Arena and the Cleveland Quicken Loans offices.
