It's kids helping kids at the holidays."
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 22, 2011
1-800-GOT-JUNK? and Second Chance Toys did it again this week, collecting more than 5,000 gently-used toys from school drives throughout the New York area and distributing them to kids who need them most. Children from 4 public schools, 2 private schools, 1 Hebrew school, 2 corporate sponsors and 1 university group comprised the donators; while the recipients included 9 not-for-profit organizations serving underprivileged families.
“It’s kids helping kids at the holidays, and it just doesn’t get any better than that,” says Cameron Robinson, the Operations Manager and key driver of the charity event for 1-800-GOT-JUNK?.
In addition to the charity, the environment is a strong motivator for both companies.
“Every toy that we put into the hands of a child means one less toy that could end up being thrown into a landfill,” explains Bronna Lipton, Director of Second Chance Toys. “The environmental benefits are huge.”
Second Chance Toys runs numerous toy drives throughout the year, but the two major drives include the Christmas Holidays and Earth Day. This holiday season the Northeast-based charity delivered its 90,000th toy. In existence for 5 years, Second Chance Toys has been partnering with the world’s largest junk removal company for the past 4, and has big plans for national and international expansion.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? is pioneering an industry that is helping residents and businesses remove junk and regain space. Whether it’s a pile of household junk in the garage or a warehouse full of office furnishings, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? removes it for you, making the ordinary business of junk removal exceptional. We are passionate about recycling and donating to charity. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? was founded in 1989 and now operates throughout North America and Australia.
