Staff members actually look forward to filing in this new system," said Denise Frankie, Medical Records Department, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) is a world leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions with more than 40,000 clinic visits each year. The high volume of hospital patients led to a large quantity of medical files and patient records that quickly outgrew the current storage system. This Dallas-based hospital teamed up with Datum to create a file storage system that uses electronic controls to make retrieving files fast and easy.

Datum combined its MobileTrak5e® System with ThinStak® Shelving to address TSRHC’s unique storage needs. The MobileTrak5e® System is an electronically controlled MobileTrak5® which has touch sensor controlled carriages that make accessing files effortless. To increase safety, Datum equipped the carriages with an infrared floor sweep system to ensure that nothing can get caught in the aisles should the carriages be engaged. Most importantly, because of their ability to vertically expand from 7 to 8 levels high, ThinStak® Shelving increases the hospital’s storage capacity by 14%.

“The new system at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children provides us with a user-friendly, up-to-date, consolidated filing environment and operates smoothly with a touch of the lighted control end panels,” said Denise Frankie, Medical Records Department, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. “Staff members actually look forward to filing in this new system.”
