Sköna Advertising crashes SantaCon, inviting sketchy Santas to launch Slinky toys from the iconic steps of Saints Peter and Paul Church

“SantaCon seemed like the perfect venue for Sköna’s Slinky launch; it’s a City tradition that’s a lot of fun and a little off-center – just like Sköna.”

San Francisco-based ad firm, Sköna Advertising, Inc., crashed the City’s annual SantaCon event earlier this month, inviting scruffy, spindly and scantily-clad Santas to launch Slinky toys from the top of the steps at Saints Peter and Paul Church.

The agency just unveiled the results of its holiday experiment at http://www.skona.com/slinky, unveiling several of the event’s nearly nude Santas in the process.

Among the skanky Santas was Sköna’s own staffer, Janessa Schenck (pronounced “skank”), who gave away hundreds of Slinky toys to event revelers. Dressed in her own slinky Santa costume, she enticed dozens of Santas to join in the Slinky launch.

“Every year, we try to up the ante by creating a holiday experience that shows off our firm’s smart, creative and quirky personality,” Scott Springer, Creative Director and Partner of Sköna Advertising. “SantaCon seemed like the perfect venue for Sköna’s Slinky launch; it’s a City tradition that’s a lot of fun and a little off-center – just like Sköna.”

A small agency with big talent, Sköna is much like the Slinky, too: flexible, fun to play with and wildly creative. Sköna’s highly successful design and advertising programs have won dozens of client awards and wide industry recognition at annual awards shows. And while their Slinky experiment was all in good fun, Sköna is known for its no-nonsense approach and unwavering commitment to meeting clients’ business objectives.

Sköna’s Santa Slinky ups the ante on the agency’s 2010 holiday experiment: a virtual white elephant gift exchange featuring a cat butt pencil sharpener, merman ornament, 3D teddy bear sweater and numerous other repulsive “gifts.” Sköna’s virtual gallery, http://www.skona.com/xmas/, drew thousands of visitors as people gifted and re-gifted the white elephants online.
