Richmond, Va. (PRWEB) December 22, 2011
Timmons Group, an ENR 500 Design Firm and a leader in civil engineering consulting services, is pleased to announce that online giant Amazon.com Inc. is planning to open two distribution centers in the Richmond area next fall that would employ a total of 1,350 people. The $135 million investment in Chesterfield and Dinwiddie counties is Virginia's largest single economic development deal since 2004 in terms of job creation.
Timmons Group is proud to have served Dinwiddie County in their pursuit of this important project that promises 350 jobs for the County. Team members from Timmons Group assisted Dinwiddie County early in the process by responding to requests for information (RFI), prospect site visits and developing preliminary concepts for the proposed 1 million-square foot facility that will be located within the Dinwiddie Commerce Park. The team assisted the County Economic Development staff with property acquisition strategies, cultural resource issues, responding to developer questions, solving intricate environmental permitting issues, site grading, delivering access alternatives and evaluating infrastructure necessary to serve the facility.
Timmons Group assisted County Staff throughout negotiations that continued right up until the exciting announcement. The team of Timmons Group congratulate Greg Reid and appreciate his comments including, “Timmons Group helped address all unturned stones and provided a comprehensive evaluation that helped the County land the prospect, and helped the County prepare for potential future opportunities as they arise within the Park.”
Timmons Group is also proud to have worked closely with Seefried Properties who is developing the site on behalf of Amazon and USAA Real Estate. Seefried, Timmons Group and Dinwiddie County completed full design and approval of the site plan within approximately three weeks. This allowed the developer to reach successful negotiations with a site contractor prior to today’s announcement.
