Weston, MA (PRWEB) December 24, 2011
When the spring arrives in 2012, teams of landscaping, lawn care, tree care and irrigation contractors will once again beautify and protect our landscapes throughout North America. To hone their business skills, many contractors enjoy winter business seminars that offer tips on sales, marketing and managing their landscaping companies. With a soft economy, and many contractors feeling the effects, many are seeking out these educational seminars more than ever.
"There just doesn't seem to be enough educational seminars in the slow season, especially in the Northeast," says Keith Upham, owner of The Upham Landscape Co. in Weston, MA. "The Green Industry is chock full of great landscaping technicians and designers turned owners. But when it comes to running and managing their businesses during the busy season, many owners struggle with the business side of landscaping; sales, marketing, management etc."
After attending many seminars and conferences out of state over the years, Keith decided to launch his own show. On March 1st to 3rd, the first Boston Business Boot Camp will host between 150 and 200 Green Industry owners, managers and sales professionals who, for three days, will attend workshops, listen to professional speakers and have an opportunity to network with other owners in their respective roles.
"The great thing about these events," says Upham, "is the ability to meet with other Green Industry Professionals from all over the country and even within your market in a non-competitive setting. It's a chance to discuss and work through problems that need fixing at your company; it's comforting knowing that many are going through similar struggles as you, and a chance to share triumphs during the previous year."
The Green Industry, as it's called, encompasses every business that touches on the care of landscapes, trees, shrubs, flowers etc. It and even includes the outdoor power equipment dealers that sell the machines that contractors utilize in their businesses.
"This is a 15 billion dollar a year industry that's been growing at 12-15% annually," Upham says. "We (business owners) need every bit of business education there is available to help us manage our businesses better and be more competitive with the large franchises. As a whole, we're great at landscaping, but our business skills need constant sharpening."
The Boston Business Boot Camp will be held March 1-3, 2012 at The Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA. Interested attendees and sponsors may contact Keith Upham directly @ 617-839-1451 or visit http://www.bostonbusinessbootcamp.com for more information.
