The College Station Hotel Gave a Great Christmas to Texas Second Graders

The Hilton College Station Hotel & Conference Center, located on 801 University Drive East, hosted local second graders for a “Great Christmas Tree Event” on Monday, December 5, 2011. This hotel believes in giving year-round, not just during the holidays, but ‘tis the season to do a little more.

For the past five years, students from across Brazos Valley have gathered at the Hilton College Station for holiday festivities and surprises. On December 5, 23 second grade classes from the Bryan/College Station area made their very own ornament at school. When they arrived at the hotel there were 23 Christmas trees waiting for them in the pre-function area outside of the hotel’s BlueBonnet Ballroom. Each school decorated their tree with the handmade ornaments from the students.

Each tree was later donated to a local family in need who would have gone without one this holiday.

A special Santa treat of milk and cookies followed as the kids took a seat to watch children’s book author Jack Houston (who is a former employee of the Hilton College Station Hotel) read Christmas stories and sing carols with his guitar. Just as the singing began to die down, Santa and Mrs. Claus appeared for a surprise class photo before the students were bussed back to school.

The Hilton College Station Hotel & Conference Center has been participating in philanthropic efforts that benefit the local area for years and have raised thousands of dollars for programs in need. The hotel and its associates believe in giving back to the community that houses it.
