In December, Scottsdale, Arizona website design firm Zenuity selected Quest to Cure as the recipient of a brand new website makeover, pro bono. Zenuity saw a great cause that wasn’t talked about regularly and a website that could benefit greatly from receiving a makeover.
Zenuity stuck with the site’s previous color scheme of red, grey and black, but added a more stylized layout that displayed important news, information and personalized photographs throughout the entire site. They also updated their logo for a newer, more professional look. The updated website allows the core of the foundation’s mission to shine.
Quest to Cure Sickle Cell Foundation was founded by Kristine Buchanan who has two twin boys with the disease. The organization was created as a parent to parent support group designed to teach and promote self advocacy, which in turn would build a stronger, inclusive sickle cell community. Quest to Cure’s mission is to help children with sickle cell focus more on life, not pain – and to heighten awareness as it relates to sickle cell disease while bringing sickle cell communities together.
The website offers information on the foundation’s many programs. Catering to sickle cell children between the ages of 7 and 17, the Sickle Cell Summer Camp program is a five day, out-of-state road camp. The camp is specifically designed to meet the unique medical, physical and emotional needs of children with sickle cells disease while giving them a chance to participate in fun, healthy activities.
Joshua’s Journal and the School Success Program are programs designed to help children with sickle cell anemia in school. Bedside Buddies is a volunteer program. Buddies visit affected children and bring stories, stuffed animals, lunch and parent relief to provide respite for a parent during hospital stays. In addition to these regular programs, Quest to Cure also provides family resources and a support structure, along with Family Fun Days and Holiday Help programs.
The website also provides parents and caretakers with sickle cell specific information about nearby support groups, fundraisers and doctors. You can also visit the website to sponsor a child, mother or entire family.
