The new children’s book Life Through a Kitten’s Eyes (published by AuthorHouse), written by Nancy Rearick and illustrated by Carolyn Emerson, is based on the true story of how Michael, the son of the author’s friend, got his kitten and the sometimes-wild antics that followed. This book is a combination of laughter and compassion.
Even when Avery gets into more mischief than Michael thinks possible, Michael always responds with kindness toward his kitten.
An Excerpt from the book:
The man suddenly saw me zip by him but because of my color and speed he thought I was a squirrel – imagine that. He decided he couldn’t go to work with a wild squirrel in the house so he started to look for me. It took him a while, but when he peered under his bed and saw two little yellow kitten eyes, he just laughed, reached for me and picked me up in his large hands and petted me. It was love at first sight. I just purred and purred. Life was suddenly wonderful.
Recommended for ages 5-10, Life Through a Kitten’s Eyes is a fun, beautifully-illustrated read. “Kindness to animals, which this book demonstrates,” Rearick notes, “is always relevant but especially today, when many people are struggling.”
