Rural Magazine’s Solutions for Today’s Economy

It's all about frugal and sustainable living. It's about family trends and home-based businesses. Back Porch View offers solutions to today's economy with a rural flavor.

Back Porch View is a new magazine in the Flathead Valley Montana, featuring articles about family life, frugal living, sustainable living, and work-at-home enterprise. Cristina Aguilar-Friar, owner of Aguilar Publishing, created the magazine to provide more information on how people can make extra money at home using their own talents and gifts and to highlight family life in the area.

“We may be living in a rural area but we are pioneers when it comes to tapping the resources within us and around us, says Friar. “The magazine is poised to celebrate local accomplishments, and link communities around the valley. It is non-partisan, non-political and features stories to inspire work-at-home ideas, frugal living—which is the real “greening” -- community resources and family issues in today’s economy.”

Back Porch View is a quarterly magazine following a non-traditional format. It’s unlike other magazines with photos of beautiful women or breath-taking views. It combines information with lots of photos, including those of local kids. Friar hopes to compliment the magazine with the website where there are video demonstrations on cooking, frugal living, crafts and recycling. The publication is also available online at http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/310489 so it can be ordered from anywhere in the world.

Price for subscription is $19.99 and Friar intends to use it as a fundraising product for people who wish to raise money for their projects or 501C. 50% of the proceeds of subscription sales would go to the fundraiser or 501C.

Because the magazine is family-oriented, no alcoholic, bar or marijuana care ads will be featured unless these businesses want to sponsor an ad for a favorite 501C that benefits the community.
