Organic foods. Low-emissions vehicles. Alternative energy sources. It seems that health and environmental concerns are becoming more and more prevalent in the minds of people today. As the Huffington Post reported in their recent article “How Mainstream Medicine Is Opening Up To Integrative Health,” even doctors are starting to consider alternative medicine for their patients. In his new book The Way of the 4th Toe: Into the Feeling Body (published by iUniverse), Jack Wiener explores body-mind techniques for eliminating pain in feet, legs, lower back and neck through adjustments in standing and walking.

An Excerpt from the book:

The muscles tighten to keep out the unwanted outside and unwanted inside. But they also loosen to let the desired outside in—and to let the inside flower!

When the muscles tighten, the flow of blood, which they help to pump throughout the body, decreases; when muscles loosen, the blood fills the heart and brain.

The secrets that the tight muscles hold affect our bodies and our minds. Opening the pathway of the muscles creates a safe road for the secrets to travel on.

The Way of the 4th Toe: Into the Feeling Body shares Wiener’s understanding of what everyone can do to be in touch with “the unquestionable solidity of the ground, and consequently, how this solidity sustained through the musculature helps us experience our inner feelings and thoughts.”
