Inspired by famed authors such as Dean Koontz, debut author Martin Barajas pens his new fantasy novel, Bruma and the Enchanted Forest (published by AuthorHouse), the story about a group of friends who rob a bank and find their just desserts within a magical forest.
After robbing a city bank, a group of friends flee to the mountains to hide from the law. There, a witch named Bruma awaits them. After refusing her advice to turn back from their evil ways, she alters their minds by bringing some of their most horrific nightmares into reality, showing them the true horrors of an enchanted forest and the true errors of their ways.
“Today’s society is full of crime at every turn, with people making dumb choices without thinking of the consequences,” explains Barajas. “They affect the lives of others and more often than not, mess up their own lives, all in a few minutes of stupidity. This is exactly what the group of friends in my tale has done.”
An excerpt from the book:
Suddenly, the whole world closed in on her when she saw the being jump out of the mist. Her heart froze with fear and all the guts melted inside of her. She closed her eyes and waited for her death, ready to see her life fl ash before her eyes, but after a few seconds of waiting, she opened them slowly when she realized nothing was happening to her. She was amazed instantly when she saw what she saw, and what she saw was, well, she could not believe what her eyes were seeing. There was no monster before her, but a small creature staring straight at her. She had pictured herself being torn to pieces by one of the monsters growling in the mist, never in a million years did the thought of an elf popping out of the mist crossed her mind.
Bruma and the Enchanted Forest is an exciting new saga that readers are sure to love and remember for a long time. “When you choose to do wrong in life, you bring some of your nightmares into reality.”
