Rabbi Eli Gewirtz and Rabbi Yaacov Deyo, directors of Partners in Torah, will provide a keynote address introducing the revolutionary MySiyum.com project at the 23rd International AJOP convention, Partners in Torah announced today. Organized by The Association for Jewish Outreach Programs, the conference is set to be held in Stamford, CT, on January 16-17, 2012, and to be attended by hundreds of Jewish leaders and communal activists from around the world.
"This is the event of the year, the one time to have all the people involved in Outreach together at one time, and we're honored to be able to speak with the entire conference,” said Rabbi Deyo. “Rabbi Lowenbraun [the organizer of the AJOP convention] has done wonders in pulling everyone together, and we're excited to address the whole outreach community about this great campaign."
At the AJOP convention, Rabbi Gewirtz and Rabbi Deyo will be joining a stellar group of speakers including Rabbi Yitzchak Adlerstein from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Rabbi Mordechai Becher from the Gateways Organization and Mr. Richard Horowitz ,the President of North American Aish HaTorah.
In the scope of their address, Rabbi Gewirtz and Rabbi Deyo will be telling conference participants about an innovative approach to Jewish learning that is likely to become part of the largest campaign for Jewish learning in American history. Focusing on short-term, Siyum-focused (or completion-focused) study, MySiyum.com will guide Jewish adults, from beginners to more advanced learners, through the process of choosing a text and providing them with a free, personal teacher to assist them in meeting their goals. Scheduled to be launched on January 15th, MySiyum.com is designed to confirm for participants that learning complete Jewish texts is an entirely achievable objective, regardless of one’s background.
Rabbi Deyo will also explain to convention participants how they can leverage their personal Siyum experience by participating in the upcoming Siyum HaShas, the largest celebration of Jewish learning in over 2,000 years that will bring together hundreds of thousands of Jews from all walks of life.
