CoreXpand Helps the Georgia Boy Choir with New Style of Philanthropy

Share Article

CoreXpand and other local Atlanta businesses are breaking ground on a new type of philanthropy. Instead of donating money or encouraging employees to volunteer, business leaders are actually paying their employees to use their expertise and skill sets to help.

“Without the gracious support of individuals and local businesses , it would be more difficult to achieve our goals and provide the life changing experiences we can offer the young men in our Choir,” says David White, Founder of the Georgia Boy Choir.

It's a different style of community outreach. Instead of donating money or encouraging employees to volunteer, business leaders are actually paying their employees to use their expertise and skill sets to help local non-profits reach their goals.

For example, CoreXpand (a local e-commerce and e-business solutions company) has helped the Georgia Boy Choir by having employees, on company time, handle offline and online marketing, business planning, and website development functions.

"It's not about branding or exposure to our company," says Lindsey Tanner, CEO of CoreXpand. "It's about enriching and expanding the minds of our future generation of leaders and entrepreneurs, which is what our country and our economy needs."

"We're investing in the future. The Georgia Boy Choir provides a great service to our community through their world class music and by teaching boys valuable skillsets like teamwork and dedication to excellence.”

In addition, Monumental Media provides the video production for the Georgia Boy Choir's YouTube™ and Facebook™ pages. “Without the gracious support of individuals and local businesses , it would be more difficult to achieve our goals and provide the life changing experiences we can offer the young men in our Choir,” says David White, Founder of the Georgia Boy Choir.

A non-profit requires the same business functions as any other business. The difficult part for many non-profits is that the budget does not allow for hiring the necessary people to handle some of the growing needs of the organization and they rely heavily on volunteers and donated services.
As these Atlanta companies are proving, local businesses can make a big difference in their communities by getting creative in the way they help.

They're hoping that their example will encourage other businesses to get involved. Contributing expertise in anything from fundraising drives, website design, cleaning uniforms, accounting services, grant writing, etc. helps nonprofit organizations tremendously.
