The clinic was very good. I see what you mean about Kevin Tanner - he's very good with golf fitness and did a great job presenting the clinic. I already got myself a 5' dowel to do some of the excercises. I'll be ordering a swiss ball this week. Sean L

GolfTEC North Bethesda 2011 Merchandise Highlights

As golf technology progresses, club manufacturers are able to make incredible advances in their product lines. There's a lot to look forward to as 2011 clubs hit the shelves and are available to demo in GolfTEC North Bethesda bays.

Here are the five clubs to look for in 2011. All five made Golf Digest's HOT LIST and received the Gold medal rating.

1.Callaway Diablo Octane/Octane Tour Driver ($ call for price $) — The clubhead weighs just 195 grams thanks to a lightweight carbon-fiber crown. Despite the lighter weight, the head still has a low center of gravity (CG) and the off-center hit stability of heavier heads.

2.TaylorMade R11 Driver ($ call for price $) — New technology! White non-glare crown and black clubface is a new look for 2011. The purpose of the white paint job is to eliminate possible glare at address. The moveable weights of the original r7 and the adjustable hosel of the R9 are joined by a rotating soleplate that independently changes the driver’s face angle for 48 possible settings. As a result, the adjustments in loft and lie from the hosel don’t affect the driver’s appearance at address.

3.Mizuno JPX PRO Irons ($ call for price $) — Their largest COR in a one-piece forged iron. A thinned face raises ball speed for max distance.

4.Ping Anser Irons ($ call for price $) — Forged multi-material head. Carbon steel body, tungsten sole and hollow sole cavity all help in positioning CG for high launching shots.

5.TaylorMade Burner 2.0 Irons ($ call for price $) — New technology and new look! Every new Burner 2.0 iron has been engineered to be long. The face is thinner to increase ball speed and distance. The toplines are progressive.

GolfTEC North Bethesda Golf Tip

Keeping the back knee bent through the entire backswing is important for added power and accuracy. If the right knee (for a right handed golfer) straightens from its slightly bent position at address as a golfer begins the backswing then the golfer will lose the natural coil potential that would otherwise be generated into the right hip and leg.
