Vital Source Technologies, Inc., Ingram Content Group’s leading e-textbook solution for publishers, academic institutions and students today announced an agreement with Texas A&M University- San Antonio (TAMU-SA). TAMU-SA has selected VitalSource Bookshelf® as its format of choice for e-textbook delivery for students.
TAMU-SA, one of the newest institutions in The Texas A&M University System, has integrated directly with Ingram’s VitalSource platform and is the first 2 and 4-year higher education school to integrate with VitalSource’s Blackboard Building Blocks™ application. This module built by VitalSource® will allow TAMU-SA to seamlessly deliver e-textbooks to students through the Blackboard Learn™ platform.
“We spoke with many e-textbook providers as we were exploring our options, and the combination of a unique single-sign on solution and the flexibility of the platform made VitalSource the right choice for us,” said Dr. Tracy Hurley, interim vice president for academic affairs and associate professor of management, Texas A&M University-San Antonio. “Because e-textbook delivery is integrated directly into our Learning Management System (LMS), the VitalSource platform enables us to efficiently distribute digital textbooks from the most renowned publishers to our faculty and students – we couldn’t be happier with the solution.”
Students in TAMU-SA’s MBA program as well as other select programs at the University will have full access to the VitalSource® platform. Students who use VitalSource will enjoy flexibility in accessing their course material when they need it, whether they are at home, in the classroom, or on the go - VitalSource is the only digital textbook platform providing synchronization across download, online and mobile delivery methods.
