Princess Cruises today revealed “Essential Experience #16” on its blog, “50 Essential Experiences: The Travel Bucket List.” This week Sapphire Princess Captain Nick Carlton visits one of Europe’s most holy places, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, the final resting place of St. James and a site that draws tens of thousands of pilgrims each year.

He writes: “While not exactly a pilgrimage, my visit to Santiago (which translates to “St. James”) was one where I felt a strong connection to two important people in my life – my maternal grandfather and my son – both named James.” read more

In the blog’s “Reader Essential Experience of the Week” a reader describes her horseback adventure through the jungles of Costa Rica.

These and other stories can be found online at http://www.50EssentialExperiences.com, where a new experience is unveiled weekly. Each is authored by a Princess destination expert – a long-serving and well-traveled shipboard or shoreside employee.
