MEDEX Global Solutions’ Security Services Division has raised their Status Phase for travelers in Egypt from Alert Status to Evacuation Status and is actively evacuating clients from the country.

MEDEX Global Solutions’ Security Services Division has raised their Status Phase for travelers in Egypt from Alert Status to Evacuation Status. This change is based on the company’s in-house Intelligence Team’s assessment of the situation on the ground. That assessment is consistent with the U.S. State Department’s order to evacuate all non-essential U.S. government personnel from Egypt and recommendation that U.S. citizen not travel to Egypt at this time.

“Our intelligence analysts had been keeping a close watch on the situation as it developed, using information from public and private sources, to determine the need to evacuate people out of Egypt. This intelligence has been instrumental in helping our operations personnel conduct security evacuations to remove our clients from potential harm’s way”, said MEDEX Global Solutions’ President & CEO, Bruce Kirby.

Political protests and demonstrations in Egypt have resulted in an ongoing security situation. MEDEX Global Solutions' Intelligence team continues to monitor the situation from both their 24-hour Emergency Response Center and Intelligence Center. In addition, we are actively evacuating both current clients, and those of other organizations whose providers have been unable to assist them.

We have chartered one flight that left yesterday (January 31) at 3PM EST. Two charters flights left today (February 1) at 11:10 AM EST and 5:00PM EST. The combined chartered flights today will carry on them approximately 400 travelers combined. Another chartered flight is currently being coordinated for Thursday. MEDEX had already evacuated an executive and his family from Egypt on a private Hawker aircraft. In addition, MEDEX Global Solutions has assisted in coordinating the evacuation of over 140 people via commercial flights.

“The situation in Egypt has been interesting because we have stepped in to provide safe passage for not only our clients, but also other organizations whose service partners were unable to provide assistance. It’s a good example for the need for more than having the services in place, but for partnering with a company like ours who is experienced in conducting those services”, said Charlie Leblanc, president of MEDEX Global Solutions’ Security Services Division.
