It’s not time for providers to panic yet, but it’s definitely time to prepare for how they will transition their networks to IPv6.

ZCorum, a wholesale provider of broadband services to telephone companies and cable providers is making sure telcos in their home state are aware of the importance of transitioning networks over to IPv6. During the Georgia Telephone Association's 14th Annual Vendor Showcase, which begins today in Macon, GA, ZCorum will be providing information and strategies for service providers to transition their networks to IPv6. ZCorum is also making available IPv6 readiness testing as a service to telephone companies. “Just last week IANA allocated their last blocks of IPv4 addresses to the regional number registries like ARIN, RIPE and APNIC”, said Arthur Skinner, Vice President of Sales at ZCorum. “It’s not time for providers to panic yet, but it’s definitely time to prepare for how they will transition their networks to IPv6. To help meet that need we’re offering some basic, high-level information, including an IPv6 guide written for non-technical managers.”
According to Skinner, ZCorum has also set up a special Website at ZCorum.com/ipv6. The site contains helpful information and links on the topic, and visitors who complete a short, five-question survey can download a paper that contains strategies for conserving IPv4 space while planning for IPv6.
In addition to their focus on IPv6, ZCorum will also be showing TruVizion, a web-based application that provides modem and CMTS diagnostics and monitoring for cable broadband providers. “Quite a few phone companies also own cable plants, and they need tools to help manage the modems and CMTS equipment on the cable network,” said Skinner. “TruVizion is well known among independent cable companies, and we want to make sure that telephone companies that also run cable plants are aware of the powerful diagnostics and reporting tools that we provide”.
ZCorum provides broadband Internet and communication solutions to telcos, cable companies, utilities, and municipalities, assisting in all facets of broadband implementation, integration, engineering and consulting, network monitoring and diagnostics. ZCorum also offers wholesale, private-labeled Internet services, including data and VoIP provisioning, email, Web hosting, and 24x7 support for end-users, enabling service providers to compete effectively in their local rural and suburban markets. ZCorum is headquartered in Alpharetta, GA. For more information, please visit ZCorum.com
