SunGard has launched Protegent Social Media Surveillance, a social media compliance and surveillance solution that helps firms monitor and archive content posted to social networking Web sites, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, regardless of the device used to make the posts. Protegent Social Media Surveillance helps firms efficiently manage supervisory regulatory obligations and enforce internal social media policies by providing automated pre-approval workflows and robust reporting and alerting capabilities. Protegent Social Media Surveillance is the latest addition to SunGard’s Protegent integrated suite of suitability, surveillance and supervision solutions that offer greater visibility into potential compliance risks while helping to increase regulatory transparency.

The increasing popularity of social networking Web sites introduces potential risk factors for organizations seeking to monitor content that may breach internal communication and privacy policies. With Protegent Social Media Surveillance, financial services firms can manage supervisory requirements from Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) by utilizing tools for moderation and pre-approval of content that may be considered advertisement. The solution’s alerting, reporting and archiving capabilities help financial firms adhere to FINRA books and records surveillance requirements. Protegent Social Media Surveillance features integrated search and reporting, automated policy alerts, lexicon detection, approval workflow and e-mail notifications.

Protegent Social Media Surveillance is the result of a partnership between SunGard and SiteQuest Technologies Inc., a leading provider of social media Web archiving tools. The new solution leverages SiteQuest Technologies’ Web consumption technology and SunGard’s Protegent comprehensive compliance rules library to automate monitoring of social networking activity.
Steve Sabin, chief operating officer of SunGard’s Protegent business unit, said, “Protegent Social Media Surveillance helps firms adhere to regulatory guidelines related to the use of social media, as set forth in FINRA notice 10-06.”
