Future FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Student Alexandria Terry started dancing at seven years of age and acting by age 12. She has since played students on the Nickelodeon shows iCarly and Victorious, and last fall she appeared in Justin Bieber's "U Smile" music video. Alexandria's passion for acting is only matched by her love of fashion. So it’s no surprise that she chose FIDM.
“I have a passion for Visual Communications and the Entertainment Industry and FIDM is the perfect platform to offer experience in both areas. FIDM is one of the only colleges that accepts high school students like myself, who know that they belong in the fashion industry from an early age,” explains Alexandria, who is currently a student at the Orange County High School of the Arts in the acting department.
With a future goal of being a personal stylist or shopper, Alexandria applied to FIDM with three impressive entrance projects that included window displays and interior displays. The Southern California native says she is excited to attend the fashion college and be surrounded by like-minded people. “FIDM will help me achieve these goals by providing the instruction and opportunity to have hands-on experience in my desired profession,” she says.
In FIDM’s Visual Communications program, students learn the management, leadership, creative, and technical skills to visually communicate with the world. They leave the program proficient not only in their hard skills like quick sketching and Photoshop, but also with a full understanding of attention to detail, problem solving, and what goes on in the world of art and culture and how it applies to their work. Anthropologie, Forever 21, and Bloomingdale’s are just some of the hundreds of companies that hire FIDM Visual Communications program graduates.
With four dynamic California campuses, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is the premier west coast fashion design school, educating for careers in fashion, graphic design, interior design, and entertainment. FIDM’s graduates include renowned fashion designers like Monique Lhuillier, Emmy® and Academy Award® award-winning costume designers, top fashion industry executives, and entrepreneurs.
