The Bubble Ball App was created by Robert Nay, the 14 year old founder of Nay Games out of The Spanish Fork, UT. There is no shortage of media coverage on this young man! Robert’s first game, the Bubble Ball game dethroned Angry Birds from the top slot of most downloaded apps in January 2011 and has reached 6 million downloads; additionally Bubble Ball received no prior media coverage or PR before reaching #1 which really speaks to the addictive nature of Robert’s game!

Robert created Bubble Ball using Ansca Mobile’s own Corona SDK and wrote more than 4000 lines of code which he worked on for over a month, Nay’s work and creativity certainly shows in his final product. Initially Robert was working with a competing SDK but realized that the framework and the physics engine in Corona SDK was exactly what he needed for the game and made the switch.

Those that haven’t played Bubble Ball yet, the object of the game is to get the ball to the goal. Within the game there are objects that can be manipulated and each one is affected by gravity differently. Wood blocks for example fall when you press start while metal blocks stay where you have placed them. There are objects that change the direction, stop or various other features; Ansca Mobile won’t spoil all the secrets of the game. The apparent simplicity hides a very clever and challenging game where each puzzle is more complicated than the last and has people wanting just one more block, just a different block.

In early January Bubble Ball had reached 2 million downloads having been available for only one month. Now just a short time later Bubble Ball has reached 6 million downloads!

Ansca Mobile is very excited to see what this young Robert Nay has to offer as he becomes more experienced in both programming and our SDK!

Ansca Mobile, creators of the Corona SDK which provided Robert with the necessary app development tool and physics engine to create the Bubble Ball game provides the Corona SDK for Free at their website Anscamobile.com.
