Poet-author Darlene Rowland bares a part of her soul in this engaging poetry collection to offer today’s much needed inspiration. In her hope to touch at least one heart or bring peace to at least one soul, she opens her whole self by unveiling the emotions deep within her through her poetry book A Part of My Soul.
From love and pain, honesty and lies, life and death, her poetic pieces invite readers to come face to face with the essential facts of life through her rich, lyrical language. Her poetry shows how openness to new possibilities can open many doors in life than closing off oneself because of past experiences that seem to hang on forever. From one soul to another, she wishes to bring readers warmth and smile as they immerse in her poems.
She tells of the many sentiments “A Tear” holds as she writes, “A tear of joy is not a loss. / But a tear of pain has nothing to gain, / As the tears run down one’s face, / They leave behind an unmistakable trace.” She also reveals a person’s “Endless Search” in these verses, “We look into the mirror to see who we are, / Our heart appears… holding many scars. We remember the ones that hurt the most, / They seem to haunt us like a ghost.” And she tries to answer “What Equals Love” when she pens down these lines, “A kiss is a kiss, until it no longer exists. / A touch is a touch, until you need it too much. / Lust is lust, until you forget whom to trust. / A heart is a heart, until it’s broken apart.”
Deeply inspired by her personal experiences, the author shares “This is life through my eyes, felt by my heart and written from my soul. If it brings warmth to a person’s heart or a smile to his face, then I will feel that my work has been worthwhile.”
