Shows will feature the artist’s latest acrylic on canvas paintings as well as hand-signed serigraph prints on gesso board. The original works focus on a variety of subject matter and highlight Mr. Lalonde’s use of vivid color and illuminating light.
Born in the suburbs of Montreal, Canada where he still lives, Lalonde was a teenager during the exuberant 1960’s. Swept up by the British invasion and the artistic movement of the psychedelic revolution, he discovered the Surrealists (Magritte, Dali and Ernst) as well as Pop Artists such as Warhol, Lichtenstein and Peter Max. It was these artistic and cultural influences that formed the unique artist he is today.
A master at blending the artistic styles surrealism, fauvism and cubism, René Lalonde’s artwork approaches the viewer with an emotional force. Whether it is a whimsical landscape, a morphing vase with a splashy protrusion of flowers or a geometric abstract, the viewer is always left with an overwhelming feeling of contentment and happiness.
Lalonde, who is also a rock and roll enthusiast and toy collector, is fond of entertaining guests with his amusing stories and is happy to dedicate purchased works of art.
