BlogHer, Inc., the leading participatory news, entertainment and information network for women online is pleased to announce the appointment of co-founder and COO Elisa Camahort Page to the TechWomen Mentee Selection Committee. The TechWomen initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of State in a public-private partnership with the Anita Borg Institute and the Institute of International Education, will pair women in Silicon Valley with their counterparts in the Middle East and North Africa for a professional mentorship and exchange program at leading technology companies in the summer of 2011.

The Mentee Selection Committee will help identify 38 women who are emerging leaders in technical fields in Muslim communities, and bring them to the United States in summer 2011 for a five-week, project-based mentoring program at leading technology companies in Silicon Valley.

TechWomen’s goal to create opportunities for women is consistent with the mission of BlogHer, which Camahort Page co-founded in 2005 along with Jory Des Jardins and Lisa Stone. Also to this end, in December the company announced BlogHer|bet, a conference that will connect 100 entrepreneurial women with 50 industry-leading women to serve as role models and mentors.
