Manhattan, KS (Vocus/PRWEB) February 25, 2011
At Briggs Pontiac Buick GMC - the premiere GM dealership in Manhattan, Kansas and the surrounding area - they are excited about the news that the 2011 Buick Regal Turbo is going to get the world’s first flex-fuel enabled turbo direct-injected engine in this class of vehicle.
While there have been problems in the past with this technology, GMC has worked hard to overcome the problems. They have been triumphant in many ways.
“Lag and reduced vehicle launch response is one of the age-old concerns with previous turbo engines” said Ecotec chief engineer Mike Anderson.
“Drivers would step on the gas to accelerate and then have to wait for boost and power to be generated,” he said. “The twin-scroll turbocharger helps the engine generate power and torque when the driver needs it for passing maneuvers or merging onto a highway even at low engine speeds.”
The Buick Regal’s turbocharged Ecotec 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine will help GMC reach its goal of offering more than 50% of their production lineup with flex-fuel packages by the end of 2012.
They still have a far way to go, but if you look at the history of this American car company, you can quickly see that they know how to roll with the punches and come back when they put their mind to it. The GM of today is a different car company in many ways.
Still, the news of this great new technology being available in yet another GM model is great news. The Buick Regal joins a long list of e85 enabled vehicle packages being offered by GM. There is a good chance there will be more announcements of other GM models being available with this technology soon.
If you ask the sales team at Briggs Pontiac Buick GMC, you will learn that they believe in the future of GM. Working with many different GM models day in and day out, they are able to see first hand the comeback of an American car company.
