“Since winning the SFWC indie publishing contest, I've hovered between euphoria and disbelief,”
Bloomington, IN (Vocus/PRWEB) February 23, 2011
Winners of the 2011 San Francisco Writers Conference Indie Publishing Contest, sponsored by Author Solutions, Inc., were announced last Saturday during the SFWC held at the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco.
Novelist Michael J. Cooper of Lafayette, Calif., was the Grand Prize winner for his submission, “Foxes in the Vineyard.” Cooper received a package of more than $12,000 in services, including an iUniverse Premier Pro publishing package and an AuthorHive Video Newsmaker Campaign, which includes the services of a personal publicist and a custom-produced author video.
“Since winning the SFWC Indie Publishing Contest, I've hovered between euphoria and disbelief,” Cooper said. “This truly is a lesson in perseverance—after years of writing and rewriting, and after more rejections than I care to remember, winning the contest has opened up a portal to FINALLY being published. I can't thank the organizers and judges enough.”
In addition, one writer each in the genres of poetry, fiction, children’s/young adult, and non-fiction/memoir were awarded free publishing packages. The genre winners and prizes included:
- Poetry: Bronton Cheja, author of “Quantum Fabrications in Einstein’s Kitchen,” won an Xlibris Poetry Classique publishing package.
- Fiction: Jim Duggins, author of “The Possession of Sarah Winchester,” won an AuthorHouse Legacy Hardcover publishing package.
- Children’s/Young Adult: Mikko Azul Baker, author of “Warrior’s Challenge,” won an AuthorHouse Voyager publishing package.
- Non-Fiction/Memoir: Danielle Vanaman, author of “Saving Liz,” won an iUniverse Premier publishing package.
