Short Hills, NJ (Vocus/PRWEB) February 24, 2011
The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation has launched an online photo contest to showcase favorite portraits and travel destinations of the paralysis community.
Applications for the 2011 Reeve Foundation Faces & Places Photo Contest are being accepted through March 11, 2011. Individuals can submit photos in two categories, portrait and travel. Judging for the portrait photo is based on adherence to theme of contest, originality of thought, photographic skills, and a description of photo in 120 words or less.
Photos can be black and white or color and shot on a camera. The only restriction to enter is that the contest entrant must be living with paralysis. He or she must either have taken the photo or be in the photo.
Ten semi-finalists in each category will be selected by a panel of judges submitted at http://www.ChristopherReeve.org/photo. These photos will then be featured on the Reeve Foundation website from March 18 through March 27, 2011 for the public to view and vote. The winner will be announced the week of March 28.
One grand prize winner will receive a private photography lesson with renowned photographer Christopher Voelker, who has been living with quadriplegia since the age of 16, via telephone, Skype, or his Los Angeles studio (travel not provided). Voelker has shot celebrities ranging from Ringo Starr to Rhianna.
“The Reeve Foundation invites the paralysis community to share their unique stories through our Faces & Places Photo Contest,” said Peter T. Wilderotter, Reeve Foundation President and CEO. “Every person living with paralysis has a powerful story and can be well-lived through vivid imagery.”
