A compelling memoir that will take readers into the complex and perplexing mind of an adult who bears the scars of child abuse, this newly released book, I Can Begin Again, is author Nola Katherine Trewin’s response to the voices of abused children past, present, and yet to come that have beckoned her to tell her own story of childhood sexual abuse.
For thirty years, God would not let her rest until she finally listened and obeyed His call on her life to reach out and help others who are stuck in the grips of this devastating affliction. This very personal story will help the adult, who was abused as a child, understand who they are and why they behave the way they do. It will prove they do not have to remain stuck in their pain and it will show them how to reclaim the power that was stolen from them as a precious, innocent child. This revealing account will encourage those who have endured any type of abuse to believe they can do more than just survive—that they can begin life again.
The author also brings insights to those who live with one who has been wounded by child abuse. It is her hope that understanding will bring healing to relationships that are often torn apart because of the confusing behavior of the abused adult/child. She will also open the eyes of abusers who have no clue what they are actually doing to their precious, innocent victims. It is her prayer that her story will save other innocent children from becoming victims.
There are many subjects covered in this book, and everyone who reads it will take from it something of value. Through this memoir, the Master Artist guides the author’s brush as she paints the canvas of her life. As others follow her story, they are sure to find themselves in a state in which they cry and laugh with her; they will be touched—perhaps even changed—by the power of her incredible story. This is a story that must be shared because everyone knows someone who has been abused. For more information on this book, log on to Xlibris.com.
About the Author
Throughout her adult life, Nola Katherine Trewin has led Bible studies, prayer groups, and retreats on forgiveness. She has spoken to small groups and been asked to share parts of her personal story within her own church and other congregations. Three times she has been the guest of Dr. Gene Getz on his weekly program, Renewal Radio. However, she feels her most purposeful moments have been one-on-one, sometimes unexpected encounters with those who are suffering. She is especially drawn to those who suffer the devastating effects of child abuse. For this reason, she has chosen to overcome her fears and allow herself to become a vulnerable open book. It is her desire for others to experience the freedom she now has from the horrific power her abusers had over her for forty-plus years. She believes no one should ever have to carry their abuser’s anger, guilt, and shame… especially for so long. She lives in the Dallas area with Jake, her soul mate of forty-one years. Her three children, their spouses, and her five grandchildren bring her immeasurable joy and keep her young. She is thankful to God for His presence in her life and that of her family.
