Catapult Technology, Ltd., a leading Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned (SDVO) Information Technology (IT) contractor to the federal government, announced that Michael White, Service Desk Manager at Catapult’s call center operation serving a contract with General Services Administration (GSA), has won the Stevie® Award in the Customer Service Contact Center Professional of the Year category. White ensures the provision of service desk support as the single point of contact for over 17,000 GSA customers world-wide.

The call center is just one component of Catapult’s premier contract with the GSA. This $200 million contract—called GSA Infrastructure Technology Global Operations (GITGO)—was also recognized with the Outsourcing Excellence Award in the Best in IT Infrastructure category. That award was presented in 2009 by the Outsourcing Center, Everest Group, and Forbes magazine.

The Stevie Awards were presented to honorees on Monday, February 21 at the 5th annual Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service, an awards ceremony held at the Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel in Miami Beach, FL.

“Michael has progressed rapidly from service desk agent to supervisor to senior supervisor and has assumed many leadership responsibilities at the service desk,” said Jeffery McCracken, Associate Vice President of Catapult. “He was pivotal in moving Catapult’s call center operation to a new location in August 2009, which was a seamless transition that enabled uninterrupted service in a critical component of our most important contract.”

CEO Randy J. Slager added, “We are incredibly proud that Michael has been recognized as a leader in customer service. His ability to motivate the call center team to meet record call levels this year and to champion continued process improvement activities is key to the ongoing success of our GSA support.”

More than 800 entries from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted to this year’s competition, an increase of more than 60% over 2010. The awards are presented by the Stevie Awards, which organizes several of the world’s leading business awards shows including the prestigious American Business AwardsSM and International Business AwardsSM. The awards are nicknamed ‘the Stevies’ for the Greek word for ‘crowned.’

Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists. Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging.

Nominated customer service and sales executives from the U.S.A. and several other countries attended. The awards ceremony benefited Camfed, which supports the education of girls and women in Africa.
