Against Heligan’s stunning backdrop of ancient flowering rhododendrons and camellias the gardens will become an amazing array of pinks, lilacs, reds and yellows; providing a breathtaking visual feast that compliments the history of Heligan.
(Vocus/PRWEB) 25 February 2011
Magnificent displays of stunning de Jager bulbs will be on show throughout Heligan's Northern Gardens, bringing new swaths of spring colour across the Victorian Productive Gardens and Pleasure Grounds. Bulb experts from de Jager will be manning the ‘Tulip Mania’ marquee on Flora’s Green, showcasing beautiful tulip arrangements and displays and answers to all your tulip questions.
Over 150,000 bulbs have been donated by de Jager and planted for six spring Tulip Mania Festivals, taking place at some of the finest historic venues in England and Ireland. The Tulip Mania Festivals will celebrate the versatility of the fabulous tulip and de Jager staff will be on hand to give advice and information on selection, planting and care.
George Clowes, owner of de Jager, describes his inspiration for the Tulip Mania Festival: “We were given such fantastic feedback from visitors to the venues last spring that we decided to hold more festivals in 2011. At tulip festivals we celebrate the versatility of the fabulous bulb and demonstrate to visitors to the gardens and properties how magnificent tulips are and what a difference top size bulbs really make. All the tulips on display, whether they are growing in the grounds or are cut and arranged in vases, will all be carefully labelled so that visitors know exactly what they are called.”
Against Heligan’s stunning backdrop of ancient flowering rhododendrons and camellias the gardens will become an amazing array of pinks, lilacs, reds and yellows; providing a breathtaking visual feast. The tulip plantings feature many of the older bulb varieties grown by de Jager to compliment the horticultural history encapsulated by the Northern Gardens at Heligan.
Entrance to the Tulip Mania marquee and displays is free to garden visitors and will run at The Lost Gardens of Heligan from Monday 23 April Monday 2 May 2011.
