NRPA is pleased to renew this partnership with HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games, which will continue to encourage fitness, health and sportsmanship among thousands of our nation’s young people
Ashburn, Va (Vocus/PRWEB) February 25, 2011
The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and The Hershey Company announced today their renewed commitment to bring the HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games to America’s youth through local parks and recreation facilities in 2011.
Celebrating its 34th year, HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games is the largest youth track and field program of its kind, hosted by park and recreation agencies, schools, youth-serving organizations and community groups in the United States and Canada. Participating youth ages 9-14 can advance through local, district, provincial and state meets to qualify for the North American Final, which takes place each summer in Hershey, Pa. Thousands of children compete in HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games annually from nearly 4,000 communities throughout North America.
NRPA serves as a key partner in delivering the program to park and recreation agencies, in order to introduce youth to basic skills of running, jumping and throwing, and to provide an entry point to sports and recreation. Hundreds of park and recreation agencies currently participate in the HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games each year.
“NRPA is pleased to renew this partnership with HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games, which will continue to encourage fitness, health and sportsmanship among thousands of our nation’s young people through local parks and recreation programs,” said Barbara Tulipane, CEO of NRPA.
“HERSHEY’S Track & Field Games reaches into local communities to promote active lifestyles for kids across North America,” said Jim George, vice president of corporate social responsibility for The Hershey Company. “We are thrilled to renew our partnership with NRPA, which provides a critical link in promoting this program and conducting local meets in our communities.”
