Franklin University, a leading educator of working adults in Central Ohio, hosted an event this month titled “American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE): Your Partner in Career Success” as part of its healthcare programs networking series. The networking event featured keynote speaker Tim Ols, President, Southview Hospital in Dayton who discussed leveraging membership in ACHE to achieve career success.

Students, Franklin alumni, healthcare management faculty and area healthcare executives attended the event to network and discuss achieving their career goals.

Dr. Leslie Mathew chairs the 3 undergraduate Healthcare Management programs at Franklin University. With over 22 years of senior leadership and management experience in higher education and healthcare, he appreciates the role networking plays in career success. “ACHE, and organizations like it, provides those interested in a career in healthcare with the opportunity to interact with individuals already established in this growing industry, to share their knowledge, vision, and expertise,” said Dr. Mathew. “Networking provides contact with a level of this industry otherwise inaccessible to newcomers or those building their healthcare careers.”

Franklin University’s Healthcare Management program partnered earlier in February with the Higher Education Network of the Greater Ohio Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) when it served as coordinators for the 2011Hospital Executive Job Shadowing Day. Through this annual event, 27 students from universities across Ohio partnered with healthcare executives for an inside, one-day look at healthcare management.

The three Healthcare Management Programs at Franklin University meet the leadership needs of the fast-growing healthcare industry. Students are exposed to a wide array of subjects emphasizing leadership, team building, performance management, and ethics, providing the skills and knowledge needed to enter mid-level healthcare management positions or prepare for graduate school.
