Fascinating Stories of a Survivor

New book contains an interesting mixture of tales from childhood to Holocaust, Communism and Democratic Canada

Born into a Jewish family, Dr. Norbert Kerenyi has lived a rather eventful life. He has survived harrowing times through the Holocaust and communism and enjoyed happier times under the democratic system of Canada. He preserves these memories as he shares Stories of a Survivor, his book published through Xlibris.

The author’s whole life has been interesting due to the events happening to him and around him. Stories of a Survivor contains a mixture of tales from his childhood to the time of Holocaust and communism, to stories from Canada in the democratic system to different places where he lived, as well as stories about friends and companions of his life. Dr. Kerenyi has started writing his experiences in the form of short stories after his childhood friend Agnes Heller encouraged him to pen them down, lest they disappear upon his death.

Every story in Stories of a Survivor stands independently and does not follow any time sequence. Through the author’s eyes, readers will come to understand those dark days that he had to survive. Though his time in the Holocaust and communism were relatively short compared to his life in the democratic system, those days for him were the most significant.

“I am writing these stories with the hope that in addition to me, they will be interesting for others and will contribute to some extent to understand those dark days that I had to survive. And also contribute to the appreciation of Canada and the democratic system,” shares the author.
