About the Author
Luisa Charriez de Morales was born to Ramona Maldonado and Arturo Charriez in 1938 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. Her first cooking experiences were shared with her mother over stoves heated with wood. It was from these experiences that her love for cooking flourished. At the age of eighteen, she came to the States with her mother, living first in New York, where she worked in the sewing industry, and then later settling in Philadelphia, where she resides today with her husband, number one fan, and best helper, Bienvenido Morales.
