March 1, 2011 – BlogHer, Inc., the leading participatory news, entertainment and information network for women online, and USA TODAY, the nation’s number one newspaper in print circulation, announced a new collaboration designed to help women celebrate who they are today, inside and out.
BlogHer’s “Own Your Beauty” series is designed to bring women together to evolve and change the wider conversation about what beauty really means. BlogHer’s series features leading bloggers on the topic, including Karen Walrond of Chookooloonks, Caitlin Boyle of Operation Beautiful and Bonnie Crowder of The Shape of a Mother.
As part of the collaboration, USA TODAY’s “Own It” segment of the “Your Life” section will feature regular posts from “Own Your Beauty”, online. In turn, BlogHer will also feature posts from USA TODAY’s “Own It” section in the “Own Your Beauty” section on BlogHer.com
Each month new themes will be explored, such as Authenticity, Spirituality, Humor and Adventure, all focusing on helping to change the conversation about how women view themselves and build a movement to change the cultural conversation while doing so.
“Own Your Beauty’s mission is to remind women that it is never too late to learn to love one’s self,” said Lynn Forbes, Vice President of Product of BlogHer, Inc. “Working with USA TODAY to bring Own Your Beauty’s message to their massive audience of women is the single best thing we can do to serve our mission and spread the message that we are the beautiful people. All women. Every one of us.”
“USA TODAY’s Your Life is delighted to join BlogHer in igniting a national conversation about the real meaning of beauty. We welcome BlogHer's fresh voices and new perspectives to Your Life, your daily companion for health and well-being,” said Heather Frank, vice president of consumer media for USA TODAY.
