The deVere Group, the world's largest independent financial consultancy group has raised £72,030 in funds towards Combat Stress, Guillain-Barre syndrome support group, as well as Inspire, from world-wide sponsors including deVere partners and deVere staff.
The deVere Group Malta team, which included deVere CEO Nigel Green, James Green, Hannah Green, Maria Stivala, Nadia Micallef and Svetlana Falzon, has successfully completed the 2011 Land Rover Malta Half Marathon on Sunday 27th February 2011, in a mission to raise funds towards four international charities.
The proceeds are going towards Combat Stress, a charity dedicated for treatment and support to ex-Service men and women with conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety disorders; Guillain-Barre syndrome support group which offers support for victims of the diagnoses that causes severe nerve weakness in the body, and Inspire, a foundation in Malta dedicated for social inclusion of adults and children with learning disabilities.
In addition, as part of its continuous support towards Alex Flynn who is on a mission to raise over £1 million, in the hope of finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease, deVere is also allocating £10,000 of the funds towards Alex Flynn’s Ten Million Meters challenge.
Remarkably, one of the runners, Hannah Green was paralysed from Guillain-Barre Syndrome just over 7 months ago. She successfully completed the 13-mile (21Km) Malta half marathon in pursuit of raising funds for the support group, to be available for others in the same way it was for her.
Nigel Green, CEO of the deVere Group commented: “On behalf of the deVere Team, I would like to Thank everyone who helped us raise the incredible figure for such worthy causes. I am very proud of the deVere Malta Team”.
The deVere Group offers financial advice for investments, savings and pensions for medium to long term financial goals. In a similar way to uniting for a common goal, financial planning takes time and focus to achieve substantial benefits. At deVere we understand this, and are thus well positioned to assist international investors living anywhere in the world.
About Alex Flynn
Alex Flynn, is 38 year-old sufferer of Parkinson’s disease who is attempting to cover ten million meters in three years, in pursuit of raising in excess of £1 million to help find a cure for the terrible disease. Alex is currently getting in gear for the ultimate TransEurope challenge that is kicking off this Summer on the 12th of June in London, where he will be crossing parts of Europe to finish in Rome, in an attempt to cover a staggering 1521 miles in 30days. The deVere Group is proud to be named main sponsor of this event. Remarkably, Alex will realise the monumental challenge whilst fighting against the relentless progression of the disease on his own body.
About Combat Stress
Combat Stress delivers dedicated treatment and support to ex-Service men and women with conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety disorders. The services are free of charge to the Veteran and since 2005 there has been a 72% increase in demand for the specialist services caring for Veterans' mental health. The charity was founded in May 1919, just after the First World War. When the charity formed, it was ahead of its time. The prevailing attitude to mental welfare was, by today's standards, primitive, even barbaric. Much has changed since then. With a current caseload of more than 4,300 Veterans, the charity has never been busier.
