Orange, Calif. (Vocus/PRWEB) March 03, 2011
The Most Rev. Tod D. Brown, Bishop of Orange, will honor two Orange County business leaders at the ninth annual Conference on Business and Ethics, sponsored by the Orange Catholic Foundation (OCF) and held at the Hilton Orange County in Costa Mesa; April 14, 2011, from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The annual event is dedicated to supporting Catholic education, promoting ethical business practices and recognizing local business leaders for exemplary dedication to ethical business practices. Dr. Jacqueline DuPont, Founder/CEO of DuPont Residential Care and Assured InHome Care, Inc. and John J. O’Connor, Founder/Chairman of Shamrock Supply Co., Inc., will be recognized during the event with the prestigious Bishop Tod D. Brown Award for Exemplary Business Integrity. This award recognizes accomplishment and personal dedication to ethical business practices.
“The importance of ethical business practices has been on dramatic display over the past several years as our collective economic future has been placed in jeopardy by the actions of a self-interested few,” explained Bishop Brown. “Dr. Jacqueline DuPont and John O’Connor have risen to prominence in their respective fields without cost to their Catholic faith or personal integrity. They have demonstrated that holding true to values of fairness and honesty can be the gateway to success and not a hindrance, and they serve as an inspiration for others.”
The conference program will feature America’s foremost clerical expert on ethical investing, Fr. Seamus Finn, and nationally syndicated radio talk show host Dennis Prager. Father Finn is the Director of Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation for the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Father Finn represents the Oblates at the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility in New York; a coalition of faith based and socially responsible investors who work together to engage corporations. The coalition’s more than $100 billion is invested to promote the integration of faith-based values into the investment process. Fr. Finn is a frequent media guest and commentator.
Dennis Prager is one of America's most respected radio talk show hosts. He has been broadcasting on radio in Los Angeles since 1982. His popular show became nationally syndicated in 1999 and airs live, Monday through Friday from his home station, KRLA. Widely sought after by television shows for his opinions, he's appeared on Larry King Live, Hardball, Hannity & Colmes, CBS Evening News, The Today Show and many others. In addition to keynote remarks, an expert panel of public and private leaders will take audience questions regarding ethical dilemmas they face in business. The panel will be moderated by Rev. Robert J. Spitzer of the Spitzer Center for Ethical Leadership. Other panel members include; Kathleen Eaton, John Ford, Manny Montanez and Rob Brinkman.
The annual Conference on Business and Ethics is an important part of OCF’s overall mission to create endowment funds, nurture planned giving, raise funds and encourage stewardship to support all aspects of the Catholic faith in Orange County. The half-day event is an important fundraiser for Catholic education in the diocese and assists those requiring financial aid or tuition assistance to enable any child the opportunity to receive a Catholic education.
“Catholic education is not reserved for the elite. Today over 19,000 students are enrolled in our diocesan schools, approximately one-third of these receive some form of tuition assistance. This could not happen without the contributions of many. This year’s honorees have made Catholic education a focus of their personal commitment to their faith and serve as an example to us all. While individually distinct in many ways – these Catholic business leaders share a common trait: A genuine concern for others. Truly, this is what our faith is centered upon,” Bishop Brown concluded.
