Extremely successful retail promotions and the industry’s highest buy-back prices for pre-owned consumer electronics drove CExchange’s 2010 trade-in business to record volumes, processing millions of devices, exceeding 1,000-percent growth, and its CEO says signs point to 2011 being even stronger.

"The availability of new technology simply places trade-in programs at the forefront as retailers look for a competitive edge to satisfy their customer’s needs.”

CExchange, the leading independent electronics trade-in and recycling company, works with some of the nation’s leading retailers to offer both in-store and online exchange programs benefiting consumers who wish to get real value from their unwanted electronic devices and create currency to acquire newer technology. According to Demos, a public policy research and advocacy organization, Americans own 3 billion electronic products with a turnover rate of about 400 million units each year, yet less than 14 percent of those devices are recycled.

“We successfully grew our retail presence and consumer programs by paying the highest values in the industry as well as by helping our partners create popular promotions to help drive consumer demand for new products by getting value from their used electronics. Our ability to customize programs unique to our diverse set of clients provided exactly what was needed to run promotions that drove both their business and ours,” said Scott Nordhaus, CEO of CExchange. ”Working with companies like RadioShack, eBay, Systemax, Wirefly.com, and many other leading retailers, we were well positioned for rapid growth last year.”

While 2010 was a record year, CExchange expects 2011 to deliver even more growth. “Our combination of retail promotional expertise, a deep catalog across 22 categories of electronics, as well as our reverse logistics and electronics repair experience allow us to provide the highest service levels in conjunction with market-leading prices that retailers want,” said Nordhaus. “Our roadmap of launch clients continues to expand, and this will create a significantly larger retail footprint throughout this year. This starts with the powerhouse regional retailer Car Toys in the first quarter, and we’re scheduled to announce several additional new relationships as the year progresses. On top of the new relationships, our existing partners continue to grow their programs through awareness campaigns that are generating millions of interactions with our business. As evidenced by the current promotion we are supporting for eBay at http://www.ebay.com/iphone in conjunction with Verizon’s launch of the iPhone 4, the trade-in business will flourish as more advanced devices are introduced at retail and through the wireless carriers. The availability of new technology simply places trade-in programs at the forefront as retailers look for a competitive edge to satisfy their customer’s needs.”
