"We believe it's vital to put real numbers against what's happening in the mobile marketing arena," said Sandy Martin, Director of Mobile Iniviatives and the principal developer of Mobitrove.

A new mobile marketing resource called Mobitrove was unveiled Thursday in New York, offering free mobile advertising data for more than 200 markets across the U.S. The announcement was made in front of more than 550 media executives attending Borrell Associates' Local Online Advertising Conference in New York City.

Mobitrove puts actual numbers behind the story of mobile advertising in markets as small as Glendive, Montana, which saw $1.5 million on mobile ads last year, or as large as New York City, where $396 million was spent. Ad-spending detail on each market is available for free, including projections for mobile advertising to 2015.

The service couldn't be timelier. Forecasters are predicting an exponential increase in mobile advertising over the next several years, sending many markers scrambling. Borrell estimates U.S. mobile advertising at $6.2 billion in 2010, growing to over $40 billion over the next five years. Locally-spend mobile advertising peaked at $505 million in 2010 and will grow to $12.5 billion by 2015, according to Borrell.

Mobitrove also features research, polls, blogs and case studies designed to assist marketers, publishers and consultants in the mobile marketing industry. Top-level local mobile marketing data is available for free to registered users. Additional data with charts and details on SMS, Email, Browser and App advertising expenditures are available for subscription fees ranging from $295 to $495 per year.

"We believe it's vital to put real numbers against what's happening in the mobile marketing arena," said Sandy Martin, Director of Mobile Iniviatives and the principal developer of Mobitrove. "It's just too easy to get swept up by the hype or so confused that you start chasing something that's not 'there' yet. We hope Mobitrove will help keep everyone grounded."

The foundation of Mobitrove is data provided by Borrell Associates, the premiere provider of local advertising data to more than 1,000 media and advertising companies across North America. Mobitrove operates as a division of Borrell Associates.
