Certiport (http://www.certiport.com), the world leader in performance-based certification exams and practice test solutions, today announced the availability of a new Intuit QuickBooks Certified User (QBCU) certification program, designed by Real World Training, which is endorsed by Intuit®.

Certiport will deliver the QuickBooks® Certified User exam in its academic testing network to help students prove marketable skills by validating they have the expertise to manage the QuickBooks accounting software for a small business without costly training. The new QuickBooks exam tests proficiency in all recent releases of QuickBooks Pro/Premier software including versions 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Intuit QuickBooks is the leading small business accounting software application in the United States. The QuickBooks share of retail units sold in the business accounting category was 93 percent for the six-month period ending January 31, 2011, according to the NPD Group.

Real World Training, the official QuickBooks training provider endorsed by Intuit, designed the QuickBooks exam to measures students’ bookkeeping skills, including how to create purchase orders, track sales and expenses, produce and manage invoices and monitor financial records.

“Employers seek individuals who have demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks,” said Greg Wright, director of product management for Intuit’s Finance Management Services division. “Having the Intuit QuickBooks Certified User accreditation will help students stand out among job applicants.”

An increasing number of secondary school career technical education (CTE) programs, community colleges and vocational schools are also teaching QuickBooks as part of a business accounting and bookkeeping education.

For students, the QuickBooks certification program validates newly acquired QuickBooks skills for entry-level positions in professional accountancy. The certification positions students as credible job candidates who have the relevant computing skills for QuickBooks bookkeeping tasks.

Academic institutions can create a competitive advantage with the QuickBooks certification program by improving student recruitment efforts, increasing student retention and enhancing the relevancy of courses using QuickBooks software.

“A recent Certiport survey of accounting instructors at two-year colleges revealed that 84 percent believes students who are preparing for an accounting career should be conversant in QuickBooks,” said Ray Kelly, Chief Executive Officer, Certiport. “We are excited to offer the QuickBooks exam as a way to validate a strong competency of QuickBooks. The certification will be a resume-builder for students and an excellent tool to increase the value of academic accounting and bookkeeping programs.”

By partnering with Certiport, schools become Certiport Authorized Testing Centers and can provide QuickBooks certification exams in their classrooms and certify business accounting software skills with a recognized industry certification.
