I’m still feeling the excitement of enrolling at NECB. I am so grateful that NECB is thanking the military spouse with the scholarship and reduced tuition offer.

Tracie Jefferson understands the call of duty to her spouse, children and country. A benefits fair at Jefferson’s office introduced her to New England College of Business (NECB) and their offer to reduce tuition for Associate’s Degrees in Business Administration for all spouses of active duty service members. An Army spouse and mother of three, Jefferson worried about the time constraints of seeking a degree while working full time, particularly when faced with the rising costs of education.
NECB’s reduced tuition for military spouses using Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) funding of $2,000 per year per spouse frees Jefferson from the financial burden associated with seeking a degree. It was all the encouragement Jefferson needed to challenge herself. “I’m an office supervisor and I’ve worked my way up the ranks,” said Jefferson. “A degree will help me attain the experience and education I need to advance further.”
Prior to enrolling in NECB, Jefferson tried an online class, but found rigid scheduling too demanding. Worried that NECB would provide similar challenges, she spoke at length to her enrollment counselor prior to enrolling. “I have a lot of anxiety where new situations are concerned, but I found NECB easy to navigate. I like the flexibility, the layout, the features, and how user friendly it is. From the beginning, the professor was there in his introduction, he explained what we could expect and how the class would go and he gave us a phone number and contact time if we had further questions. I took advantage of it that first week. He was there, took my call, and he answered all of my questions. He even recommended what my next class should be.”
The support and gratitude Jefferson feels is a palpable part of her NECB experience. “I’m still feeling the excitement of enrolling at NECB. I am so grateful that NECB is thanking the military spouse with the scholarship and reduced tuition offer. Everyone looks to our military service members, as we should, but what they don’t see is the spouses at home, who wait, who provide support, who handle the transitions and the changes. It’s a thankless job, so having someone thank me with an education that I can take with me is worth more than I can say.”
Jefferson is thrilled to be able to use her MyCAA benefits at NECB. It leaves the GI Bill available to her husband, a Private First Class in the Army and to her children as needed for their education. NECB is committed to Tracie Jefferson and all military spouses seeking an education.
New England College of Business has offered a drastic reduction in tuition on Associate's Degrees in Business Administration for all spouses of active duty service members. The discount will bring the entire tuition cost of the Associate's Degree to $4,000. This program was targeted to end in January, but due to the positive response, it has been extended until May 26, 2011. For students who are able to transfer in prior college credits, their tuition will be reduced even further on a prorated basis.
All active duty military spouses (regardless of rank or branch of service, including Coast Guard) wishing to apply for their degree through this program must visit NECB online at http://www.necb.edu/mycaa or call 800.997.1673. Students must register and be enrolled by May 26, 2011 and are required to finish their program in 36 months.
