Utopia Communications, Inc. has received the distinguished Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) Certification for Women Business Enterprises (WBE). This certification affirms the business is woman-owned, operated and controlled.

To achieve this highly-coveted certification, Utopia Communications underwent a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by a woman.

By including women-owned business among their vendors, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier/diversity programs.

The WBENC certification will allow Utopia Communications, a boutique public relations agency representing national consumer product companies, exposure to WBENC's corporate members, which include many of the nation’s Fortune 500 companies, as an approved and qualified woman-owned business that can met their marketing communications needs.

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), founded in 1997, is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide its national standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country. WBENC is also the nation's leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations.

WBENC provides and manages the development, enforcement and implementation of its gold standard of certification, which is nationally accepted by thousands of major corporations and a select group of government entities. WBENC certification is a rigorous, multi-faceted business application and review process that is conducted by a trained Certification Review Committee to ensure that women owned businesses applying for certification are 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or group of women. This stipulation is a requirement on which WBENC was founded as a key service to Corporate Members interested in doing business with women owned businesses.

Utopia Communications, Inc. was founded in 2005 on the premise that ethics could be the foundation of a profitable public relations agency. Six years later, the agency is well on its way to illustrating that ethical business practices can fuel success.

“We’re proud to be certified as a woman-owned business (WBE) at both the state (NJ) and national level,” said Utopia CEO Ann Willets. “As we look to the New Year, we hope these certifications will allow us to more aggressively market our services to a broader array of clients.”
