"Jetico is driven to continually improve our ability to serve our U.S. government customers, as well as enterprises, small businesses and personal users across the globe.” - Panu Pietikainen, Chief Operating Officer

Military-standard data wiping software developer Jetico has announced the release of BCWipe 5.0 to permanently delete files securely. This new release is designed to be more powerful than previous versions while also increasing ease of use. BCWipe is an advanced data deletion utility trusted by the U.S. Department of Defense for DoD wipe requirements, such as for cleaning up classified data spills by surgically clearing selected files. BCWipe has proudly served the U.S. Defense Community for over 10 years - widely accepted as the de-facto standard to securely erase files on hard drives, to eliminate the risk of unwanted access to confidential information.
Panu Pietikainen, Chief Operating Officer of Jetico, states "Jetico is driven to continually improve our ability to serve our U.S. government customers, as well as enterprises, small businesses and personal users across the globe.” He went on to say "With the release of BCWipe version 5.0, Jetico continues to establish itself as a premier visionary and innovator in the data protection industry. Jetico's engineers are constantly developing new and exciting ways of making all of our lives easier with user-friendly security applications." The newest version has a modified engine for increased wiping power and program performance, and the improved interface makes using the program easier than ever to use.
Features of BCWipe 5.0 include an enhanced interface and improved program functionality. A service mode has been added, so that wiping privileges are more powerful and even locked files may be wiped clean, and the wiping operations can run hidden silently in the background. This makes it possible to permanently delete files quickly and easily. Task progress is clearly displayed in the status column, and the ability to identify user created wiping tasks has been added.
The user interface for the 5.0 version includes the ability to choose additional options in task scheduling, such as running wipe file tasks upon system startup instead of user log on and running scheduled wipe data operations when no user is logged on. Functionality of the Wipe Internet History feature has been expanded, so that support for Google Chrome is now offered in addition to Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Opera. Clearing files from the Recycle Bin and User Temp folder can both be managed using the Wipe Local History feature. The ability to wipe the MacroMedia Flash Player Cache has also been added.
BCWipe is a powerful, industrial strength data wipe utility that uses U.S. DoD 5220.22-M, DoE M 205.1-2 and German VSITR standards, as well as the Peter Gutmann and Bruce Schneier wiping schemes. BCWipe 5.0 gives personal users and Information Assurance Managers an increased ability to permanently delete files and wipe free space. Transparent Wiping securely wipes deleted or temp files automatically on the fly which eliminates time-consuming processes to wipe free space, wipe temporary files or wipe old file versions. A DoD wipe must be thorough, because of the classified and sensitive information that may be included in the files. BCWipe 5.0 can clean up classified data spills, permanently clearing files that must not be accessed by anyone else.
Jetico provides military-standard data protection software for sensitive and mission-critical data throughout the lifecycle. Approved for use by the U.S. Department of Defense and available on the GSA Schedule for streamlined procurement, Jetico's BCWipe is for clearing files with surgical precision in response to classified data spills, while BCWipe Total WipeOut can erase hard drive data entirely for disposal or decommission. Jetico's BestCrypt disguises the data you keep with strong encryption that's easy to use.
Jetico products are used in over 100 countries by government and military agencies, national laboratories, industrial manufacturers, as well as various other enterprises and a wide global base of home and small business users.
