Author’s inspiring picture book to be featured at one of the prestigious National Book Exhibits

Grandparents and grandchildren will surely delight with the release of author Albert C. Hicks’ The Magical Pond, a wonderful narrative about a grandfather-grandchild’s bonding. Made available through Xlibris, this charming picture book offers readers a worthwhile reading experience.

Fishing is a universal sport and has been enjoyed by the very young and the very old since time began, and from this sport springs the beautiful story of the author. The Magical Pond was written little by little over a nine-year period. Woven with simplicity and style, the reader will come to know and appreciate why the pond was so magical as the story introduces them to Jess, one of the author’s six grandchildren. Written from the point of view of a grandfather, this story relates the memories and experiences of a grandfather watching his grandchild fish in the pond. Children might relate to Jess as she learns the finer points of fishing and setting the hook. Hicks allows the readers to see how Jess grew from a little three-year-old girl to a young twelve-year-old woman, to whom the author leaves his philosophy.

Author Hicks has written many short stories and poems about all the grandchildren, but the magical pond is his favorite. Filled with love and intimate affection, readers will find the beauty of grandfather-grandchild bonding in this book. This book will be featured at the 2011 Association of College and Research Libraries Book Exhibit in Philadelphia, PA on April 7-10, 2011.
