Southern Oregon Media Group and MailTribune.com are now accepting film submissions for the Two Minute Movie Contest. Interested local filmmakers with short attention spans and video cameras are encouraged to create and submit their projects online: http://www.mailtribune.com/twominutemovie.

MailTribune.com encourages those interested to get in on the fun and submit their digital movies now through April 15th. Plot and story driven movies are preferable, but all movies will be considered in any style, on any topic, addressing any subject, as long as they are shorter than 120 seconds (and less than 200 MB).

“The Mail Tribune is always looking for new ways to tell stories and connect with the communities we serve,” said Anita Burke, interim web editor and coordinator of this contest. “We are pleased to offer this opportunity for community members to share their stories as short, online videos.”

Following the open submission period, online voting will take place between April 16th and April 24th. Contest winners will be chosen by a combo of online voting and a panel of judges, including Joanne Feinberg, program director of the Ashland Independent Film Festival; Gary Kout, a producer who has worked on multiple movies in the Rogue Valley, including 2009’s “Calvin Marshall,” for which he was a line producer; and Rory Finney, a local photographer and videographer with a film in this year's Ashland Independent Film Festival.

Cascade Community Pool has provided prizes that will be awarded by our judging panel.

First Prize: A six-month membership that includes access to fitness classes, lap and open swimming. Valued at $295

Second Prize: A 90-minute private pool party. Valued at $150

Third Prize: Three months of free swimming lessons (24 Lessons). Valued at $120. A 25 percent discount will also be offered to additional siblings in the winner's family who want to take lesson those three months.

The people's choice winner will get two tickets for a Hellgate jetboat excursion. Valued at $74
Winners will be announced May 1, 2011 online and in the Mail Tribune.
