Cenegenics® Medical Institute, the global age management medicine leader, announced a new addition to its renowned proactive approach to prevent or delay age-related disease for optimized health: telomere science. Cenegenics recently teamed up with T.A. Sciences to use their groundbreaking telomerase activation technology, a nutraceutical called TA-65®.
The patented supplement targets one of the primary causes of aging, shortened telomeres—the protective end-caps of DNA at both ends of every chromosome. Cells divide daily, creating a problem as the years march on. With cell division, telomeres grow shorter, eventually altering the chromosomes and leading to cell death or senescence (cellular aging where cells malfunction and can no longer divide).
“Cellularly, a major difference between younger and older people is a telomere’s ability to duplicate itself. The more duplication, the younger your cells. T.A. Sciences’ oral supplement, TA-65®, appears to slow down the telomere shortening process. Preliminary data also suggests it may lengthen some of the telomeres, which could mean your previously aging cells are now younger than a year ago. That is of special interest to Cenegenics and its proactive medical approach—which is why we’re thrilled to now offer TA-65® to our age-management patients,” Dr. Robert D. Willix, Jr. said.
Willix is chief medical officer of Cenegenics® Medical Institute, as well as chief medical officer and CEO of Cenegenics Boca Raton.
“We believe adding TA-65® to Cenegenics’ acclaimed program creates the ultimate gold standard in age management. TA-65® circulates in the blood and activates the telomerase enzyme, which causes DNA to be added to the telomeres at the end of chromosomes. The result is cell rejuvenation that can help prevent the aging effects linked to shortened telomeres, such as a weakened immune system,” Dean Miller said. Miller is the Vice President of Sales/Marketing for T.A. Sciences.
With no known side effects, TA-65®—a specific active ingredient, specially extracted from the traditional Chinese medicine Astragalus root—was discovered and patented by the California biotech company, Geron (GERN). According to T.A. Sciences, TA-65®’s ability to induce telomerase activity has resulted in significant, recorded benefits in preliminary studies: immune system rejuvenation, improved cognitive function as well as lowered blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and homocysteine levels.
TA-65® is a single, purified molecule. Taking commonly available Astragalus root extract will not produce the same medical outcomes, per T.A. Sciences.
“We’re excited to be working with Cenegenics, recognizing their patient base as ideal candidates for our research-proven TA-65®—a breakthrough technology that can work synergistically along side the nutrition, exercise and hormonal health focus of Cenegenics’ healthy aging program,” Noel Thomas Patton said. Patton is the founder of T.A. Sciences and holds (since 2002) exclusive worldwide rights to all Geron’s telomerase activation technology.
