From the prolific minds of authors Abbey Lauren Ash Behan and Stephanie Ash come another collaborative work of delight as they release the Diary of a Crayon (Green Gets Bullied), the third installment of an exciting, lesson-filled series. This time around, readers are introduced to a new character, Green Crayon. Follow Green on his journey to discover why everyone is special in their own way.
Green and all of his seven brothers and sisters are excited. It is Emma's first day of school and they are thrilled to be going with her. During class, the crayons, especially Green, are determined to help Emma do a good job on her pictures. His excitement turns to dismay when he is bullied by his brother Blue. Blue brags about coloring the vast skies and the powerful ocean, and teases Green about his unimportant role in coloring the grass that people walk on and the ugly seaweed. Emma likewise is experiencing similar problems. The kids at school are laughing at her because she colors outside the lines. Will Green and Emma overcome the teasing and prove that they have special talents too?
Diary of a Crayon (Green Gets Bullied) imparts to the reader the importance of recognizing one's skills and that of others. It illustrates why it is okay to "color outside the lines." We are not all alike and being different is not a bad thing. We should all celebrate our differences.
This book will be featured at the 2011 Bologna Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, on March 28-31, 2011 and in London Book Fair in London, England, on April 11-13, 2011.
