New research from ABTA reveals that over half (55 percent) of people across who holiday at home in the UK don’t take out travel insurance cover.
The research reveals that some people are unaware of the benefits which travel insurance can offer even when holidaying at home. For example, only 46 per cent of the youngest age group surveyed know what their travel insurance covers.
For those who do purchase travel insurance, medical cover is deemed the most important aspect of their holiday insurance, followed by protection against operator failure.
Post Office Travel Insurance is keen to remind all travellers – whether holidaying abroad or seeking a domestic break – of the importance of holiday insurance. As well as safeguarding holidaymakers against unexpected costs should they fall ill or become injured while away overseas, travel insurance can also protect against any unexpected cancellations or delays - something which can affect all travel plans whether in the UK or further afield.
The Post Office also highlights that holiday insurance does not have to be a costly purchase. The Post Office offers various levels of travel insurance cover to suit all needs, as well as offering annual travel insurance for those making a number of trips within one year.
