Consona Corporation (Consona), a worldwide leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services for companies of all sizes, today announced that International Manufacturing Services, Inc. (IMS) has selected the Intuitive ERP solution to streamline operations and reduce costs, while meeting the increasing needs of its innovative customers.

International Manufacturing Services Inc., founded in 1974 by H. Henry & Tiina M. Liiv, is a Portsmouth, R.I.-based thick film electronic component manufacturer of chip resistors and related products. IMS has an expanding array of specialized thick film microelectronic components which now include special metallization, high frequency applications, and thermal management devices.

Due to growing emphasis on material management, order traceability for cost improvements, ISO standards, as well as new and innovative customers, IMS was experiencing a growing diversification in product and material types. It was important to have a business system that could coordinate materials, manufacturing, sales, customer requirements, quality assurance and cost reduction while managing the progress of all the diversified orders toward the best delivery cycle in the industry. Previous systems employed by IMS included several stable, but separate programs that created islands of competency, which could not easily communicate and coordinate together. This desire to transition to one fully integrated system eventually led to the selection of Consona’s Intuitive ERP solution.

Every member of the evaluation team identified with Intuitive ERP and saw the software as “built for them.” The sales team members saw Intuitive as “sales-centric” to the same degree that its manufacturing team members saw it as “production-centric.” The fact that there were no compromises from any of the major business areas in choosing Intuitive was very important. The education and support appeared to be comprehensive and was seen as an indication that Consona is committed to success after the point of sale.

“Intuitive allows coordination to happen seamlessly using one master database,” said John Silvia, Jr., President of IMS. “We also feel that Intuitive will offer manufacturing options that were not available in the past. With Intuitive’s bill of material (BOM) system, we should be able to catalog various stages of a finished product as a sub assembly. This will help us organize and stock partially completed raw materials as an item to allow us to reduce lead times by having prepared raw materials ahead of orders.”

“Manufacturers like IMS require a flexible, reliable system to manage a variety of business and production functions,” said Frank O’Nell, vice president of product management at Consona. “The Intuitive ERP solution fits their unique needs, and we look forward to becoming a valued technology partner as they continue to maximize business process efficiency and streamline operations.”
